Home Care Aide Qualifications and Education:
Knowledge of:
- Home Care Aide personal care and homemaking skills
Education and experience
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred
- State Nurse Aide certification preferred
- Successful completion of nurse/home care aide training course taught at an approved facility preferred
- Able to read & write, follow written and oral instructions and document care given
- Positive previous employment reference
- Minimum one (1) year experience as a nurse/home care aide preferred
Demonstrated skills in:
- Organizing and delegating work for effective results
- Effective communication skills, written and oral
- Interpersonal abilities to work with diverse personalities using tact and discretion
- Competency skills-testing program
- Lifting and body mechanics
Other:
- Valid driver’s license and possession of a reliable automobile and proof of liability insurance for the automobile used during working hours.
Scope of responsibility and Accountability:
- Provides personal care and homemaking services to Corporate clients following established guidelines, including the HCA service plan.
- Documents visits, time & mileage accurately, reports problems immediately.
- Acts as a Senior Aide Mentor by assisting newly hired HCAs in orienting to various routines involved with providing services to clients in their homes, when appropriate.
Regulatory Requirements/Agency Requirements:
- Continuing education as required by the State of Ohio and/or the Corporation
- CPR Certification
- Compliance with JCAHO, Medicare and Medicaid regulations
- Compliance with appropriate OSHA regulations, for example; observance of universal precautions, such as annual Communications of Hazards and OSHA Bloodborne Pathogens Standard Service.
- Compliance with all corporate policies and procedures as they relate to personnel and practice issues
- Annual continuing education relevant to and practical for position.
